Started today with a solid breakfast, followed by heading out with about 25 people to go watch them play some football (soccer for the Americans). Had a great time hanging with a ton of people, taking photos, and just generally enjoying some time out in the sun. There’s a number of people I met here that I’d honestly be fine with calling friends; not sure whether or not they’d return the favor, but still a nice thought.
Everybody I’ve met has been great to talk to, friendly, accommodating, and funny. Feels like everybody’s out here just trying to make each other laugh, and it’s amazing. Nobody’s really made me feel left out, though I admit I struggled a bit with feeling like I wasn’t just following people around for a while early on. All the PlayStation community members have been here to help each other out and goof off; last night there was an extremely solid set of PlayStation runs with a packed set of seats behind the runner every time, everybody cheering and clapping and interacting with the runner until their voices gave out and the run was over. It’s incredible to see so much support for everybody else. Even one of the staff members I was talking to said that the PlayStation group always stuck out for each other and helped out whether they were volunteers at the event or not. I think I finally understand the sort of community I’ve been a part of for about 10 years now.
I’ve been getting some great photos too; haven’t had time to review them all, but I’m sure I’ll make time to review them when I get home. I’m certain I’ll have far too many to go through.
